Valley Senior Living reports two more positive COVID-19 cases

Both individuals, a resident and a staff member, previously tested negative at a mass test of all Valley Senior Living residents and employees. They later developed symptoms, were tested on Tuesday, May 5, and confirmed positive on Thursday, May 7.

Valley Senior Living received positive confirmation of two more positive cases within the Grand Forks senior living system on Thursday, May 7. The positive cases are a resident of Valley Senior Living on Columbia and an employee at Woodside Village.

Both individuals tested negative for the virus at a previous mass testing event of Valley Senior Living facilities, said Valley Senior Living spokesperson Sally Grosgebauer. Both individuals later developed symptoms and were tested again on May 5.

The two new cases bring the total positive cases within Valley Senior Living on Columbia to nine, and the total positive cases within Woodside Village to five. There remains one positive case at Tufte Manor, according to the North Dakota Department of Health, bringing Valley Senior Living's system-wide total to 15 positive cases.

NDDOH reports one other positive case of COVID-19 at a long-term care facility in Grand Forks, at Maple View Memory Care. Statewide, there are 221 reports of COVID-19 in long-term care facilities as of Friday morning.
