Bryan Mason of Grand Forks caught this 31½- inch walleye Friday, Aug. 31, on Lake of the Woods. “I’ve been fishing for 39 years, and today was the day!” Mason said of his “PB” -- personal best -- walleye, which hit a 3/8-ounce pink-white-hammered gold jig tipped with a frozen shiner. He kept the fish for mounting.

 The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is proposing to lower the winter aggregate walleye-sauger limit on Lake of the Woods. Anglers currently can keep an aggregate limit of eight walleyes and saugers, of which no more than four can be walleyes.
