Karlie Weber), 15, East Grand Forks (left), shot this double drop-tine buck Oct. 20 near Middle River, Minn., during the Minnesota Youth Deer Season. She attends East Grand Forks Senior High School, and this was the last year she could hunt the Youth Deer Season. Joe Stauss of East Grand Forks caught and released this 29-inch walleye Friday, Oct. 12 on the Rainy River. "One of the biggest and nicest 29-inch walleyes I have ever seen," said Jeff Novak of Grand Forks, who netted the fish and submitted the photo. Stauss caught the fish on a jig and a minnow. Benny Huebner, 14, of Grand Forks, shot his first buck just before 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 18, a few miles south of Grand Forks during North Dakota's youth deer season. This is Huebner's first year deer hunting, and he shot the 8-point buck with a .30-06 rifle at a distance of about 50 yards, said his mom, Kjersten, who submitted the photo.
