Central wins region wrestling title for the first time since 1988
FARGO -- The Grand Forks Central wrestling program won the Eastern Dakota Conference championship for the first time since 1988 on Saturday.
"We had an outstanding day," Central coach Jeff Welsh said. "It took all 14 of our scorers to get the job done. We had eight finalists, which is the most GFC Wrestling has ever had."
Central finished with 223 points, while Fargo Davies had 217.5 and West Fargo had 208.5.
No. 2-seeded Will Rohrich won the 170-pound championship with a 4-0 victory over No. 1 seed Jaden Mairs of Fargo Davies.
