UND dropped to 0-7-0 in the Big Sky Conference and 1-12-1 overall with its home loss Sunday against Portland State.
Torie Morris scored at 29:26 of the first half for the game’s only score.
“I was proud of our effort today, not only our effort, but really about how smart we played today,” said UND coach Matt Kellogg said. “In the first half we were a little bit chaotic, but to only give up the one goal when Portland State, who is a great team, has the wind in their favor and they come out trying to jump all over us, I was really proud of our players not to give up a second goal after that first one.”

“Quite honestly, in the second half I think we carried the play and we were the better team. I think we had more quality chances than they did and that’s a credit to our team. We could have mailed it in after Friday’s effort (a 5-0 loss against Sacramento State). We talked at Saturday’s training about who’s going to step up, who’s going to be the leader out here, and I think you saw today quite a few players, both older and younger, step up today and really play one of our smarter games.”
Kristi Hestdalen had 14 saves in goal for UND.
