Jenny Potter is out as head coach of the Ohio State University women's hockey team just five days before classes are set to begin, the Herald has confirmed.
Potter, a former U.S. Olympian, was hired by Ohio State just 16 months ago.
The Buckeyes had a disastrous 2015-16 campaign, finishing 10-25-1 (.292) -- its second-worst winning percentage since 2000. Star recruit Jincy Dunne never played because of lingering concussion issues.
After the season ended, a stream of players transferred.
A spokesperson at Ohio State confirmed that Potter is no longer the head coach and a search will soon begin for a new head coach but didn't have any further details.

Classes are set to begin at Ohio State on Tuesday.
Potter was hired last year after the ousting of former coach Nate Handrahan. Handrahan received complaints of sexual harassment, the Columbus Dispatch reported last year.
