ROCHESTER, Minn. - Northland Community and Technical College defeated defending champion Rock Valley College of Rockford, Ill., 69-60 for the NJCAA Division III women’s basketball national championship.
The Pioneers were led by Sarah Durand, who had 14 points and 14 rebounds. Crystal Amundson also added 14 points to go with eight rebounds.
Northland received 10 points and five assists from Ashley Lindgren, 10 points from Bailey Jenkins and nine points and seven assists from Shammara Christian.
Northland, led by head coach Shannon Nelson, won the program’s first national title.
