With the typical fall season forced to the spring due to the coronavirus pandemic, the UND football program released an eight-game 2021 spring schedule on Thursday.

The Fighting Hawks will open the season at home against Missouri State on Saturday, Feb. 20. Exact game times for all games will be announced at a later date.

As the Missouri Valley Football Conference prioritized playing indoors during the early portion of the schedule, UND will play three straight at home to start the year (Feb. 27 vs. South Dakota State and March 4 against South Dakota). The game against the Coyotes will be played on a Thursday.

Following a bye week, UND's first road game will be at Illinois State on March 20 and at Western Illinois on March 27.

UND will return home for a matchup against Southern Illinois on April 3.

The Fighting Hawks will close the regular season on the road at Youngstown State on April 10 and at rival North Dakota State on April 17.

The MVFC teams UND won't play in the spring are Northern Iowa and Indiana State.

The Hawks finished the 2019 season 7-5 and lost 24-6 to Nicholls State in the first round of the FCS Playoffs in Thibodaux, La.

UND is expected to begin a version of "spring ball" in the fall beginning Oct. 5. The team is currently working out at the High Performance Center for limited hours and without any live sequences, per NCAA rules for teams not competing in the fall.
