Grand Forks head coach Brent Newman: “Today was a great opportunity for the team to stack themselves up against some quality competition in the Mustangs. We are at a point in the season where the guys need to start putting their technique and strategy improvements into their racing because they are physically getting more and more tired. We saw some of those improvements tonight from so many guys. It is encouraging that they are buying into the training and successes we are setting them up for. We are hopeful they can continue to break through the mental barriers that are holding them back from trying new things and will continue making them faster and more efficient in the pool. They are proving to themselves that they can swim fast while they are tired. Today’s win is a great accomplishment for these guys, and they deserve to celebrate as a result of the hard work they’ve been putting into the training pool. Tonight is another stepping stone forward as we still have a lot to prove to ourselves as we get closer to the EDC and State competitions. We are hopeful more guys will step up and break through the qualifying bubbles that are so important to their goal.”
