ST. PAUL -- Warroad came from behind Saturday to win the first state title in the history of the Warriors' girls hockey program.

Warroad scored three goals in the third period to beat Breck School 3-1 in the title game of the Class A state high school tournament.

Breck had taken a 1-0 lead in the second period on a goal by Kayla Mork.

But Warroad scored three times in the final period to get the win and the state title. Megan Brettingen's goal tied the score at 1-1. Layla Marvin scored the go-ahead tally, and Karley Sylvester added an insurance empty-net goal late in the game.

Warroad goalie Shelby Amsley-Benzie had 20 saves.

Warrroad closed the season with a 28-1-1 record.
