ST. PAUL

Granted, Donovan McNabb isn't exactly 2009 Brett Favre when it comes to resurrecting his career in Year 1 with the Vikings.

But is he as good after three games as the 2010 version of Favre he replaced?

Or as good as the quarterback the Vikings threw away before this season, Tarvaris Jackson?

Or even as good as the 2010 version of McNabb that was essentially run out of Washington?

The answers: No, no and no.

Let's look at the three-game numbers:

BRETT FAVRE (2010)

GAME 1: 15 of 27, 171 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT (L)

GAME 2: 22 of 36, 225 yards, 0 TD, 3 INT (L)

GAME 3: 23 of 34, 201 yards, 1 TD, 2 INT (W)

TOTAL: 60 of 97 (61.9 percent), 597 yards, 2 TD, 6 INT (1-2 record)

Game 3 highlight: Favre throws a 24-yard touchdown pass to a diving Percy Harvin in the end zone as the Vikings tie Detroit 7-7 in the first quarter en route to a 24-10 victory.

Other's postgame quote: Said Harvin, "Yeah, he's sharp. There are a lot of different things going on that has nothing to do with our timing. Brett's fine. We have to keep him on his feet and we'll be good."

Favre's postgame quote: "We're struggling (in the passing game), no doubt about it."

TARVARIS JACKSON (2011, SEATTLE SEAHAWKS)

GAME 1: 21 of 37, 197 yards, 2 TD, 1 INT (L)

GAME 2: 20 of 29, 159 yards, 0 TD, 0 INT (L)

GAME 3: 18 of 31, 171 yards, 0 TD, 1 INT (W)

TOTAL: 59 of 97 (60.1 percent), 567,

2 TD, 2 INT (1-2 record)

Game 3 highlight: Jackson runs 11 yards for the game-winning TD in the third quarter against Arizona as the Seahawks beat Arizona 13-10 on Sunday.

Other's postgame quote: Said Seattle linebacker David Hawthorne, "We're all for him. He knows he has all of us on his back. We'll ride and die with him. We believe in him, obviously, and we fed off that -- his toughness and his ability to go the extra yard to get that done."

Jackson's postgame quote: "I've been through a lot, man. It don't even bother me no more. It's to a point now where you want to play for your fans and all that, but I'm playing for the guys in that huddle. I'm playing for the guys in that locker room."

DONOVAN MCNABB (2010, REDSKINS)

GAME 1: 15 of 32, 171 yards, 0 TD, 0 INT (W)

GAME 2: 28 of 38, 426 yards, 1 TD, 0 INT (L)

GAME 3: 19 of 32, 236 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT (L)

TOTAL: 62 of 102 (60.1 percent), 833 yards, 2 TD, 1 INT (1-2 record)

Game 3 lowlight: Trailing 27-16, McNabb is intercepted by St. Louis' Bradley Fletcher, essentially securing the defeat with 3:47 left, and the Rams went on to win 30-16.

Other's postgame quote AND his postgame quote: Wrote Philadelphia Daily News columnist Sam Donnellon, "And there was Donovan at the end of the mess talking about his team 'getting on the same page' and 'cleaning some things up' and deflecting talk of next week's homecoming (at Philadelphia) as 'just another game.' "

DONOVAN MCNABB (2011)

GAME 1: 7 of 15, 39 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT (L)

GAME 2: 18 of 30, 228 yards, 0 TD, 0 INT (L)

GAME 3: 22 of 36, 211 yards, 1 TD, 0 INT (L)

TOTAL: 47 of 81 (58.0 percent), 478 yards, 2 TDs, 1 INT (0-3 record)

Game 3 lowlight: McNabb overthrows wide receiver Bernard Berrian, who had a step on his defender in the end zone, for a potential game-winning TD with 1:22 left, forcing the Vikings to settle for a field goal in an eventual 26-23 overtime loss.

Other's postgame quote: Said Vikings coach Leslie Frazier, "I don't think the quarterback position is our problem right now. We're not thinking about anything at the quarterback position."

McNabb's postgame quote: "Things can get cleaned up, and for me, that's the part that I look forward to -- cleaning up."

---

Granted, it's early, and McNabb still can make an impact in Minnesota. But 0-3 is 0-3, and everybody else in the comparison won once. It's hard to overlook that. If the rest of his numbers were better, it would be easier to give 2011 McNabb the nod over at least one of the other three.

But they aren't. They are generally inferior.

And that's saying something with this group.

All 2011 McNabb has going for him is the interception total. He has thrown just one, same as 2010 McNabb. Favre's six interceptions almost put him at the bottom of this class.

Almost.

But 2011 McNabb is the only one unable to complete 60 percent of his passes, the only one without even 500 yards passing -- 2010 McNabb almost had that many yards in Game 2.

And 2011 Jackson had that one TD run, the game-winner Sunday for Seattle. None of the other three had a touchdown run. It might have helped save his job.

Not turning the ball over in the second half all season is admirable for 2011 McNabb.

Completing a combined 18 of 37 passes for 108 yards and no TDs after halftime isn't.
