The UND men's basketball program's initial steps into offseason recruiting have started at the same school.

The Fighting Hawks have two scholarship offers out to players at Snow College, a junior college program in Ephraim, Utah.

The offers to 6-foot-5 shooting guard Matt Norman and 6-7 power forward forward Travis Wagstaff are the only two known offers out to non-prep prospects at the moment.

The Badgers were 16-8 this past season. Norman and Wagstaff each averaged about 16 points per game on a team that averaged about 90 points per game.

Both players aren't scared to shoot from deep. They combined for 15 3-point attempts in the final game of the season. On the season, they both averaged a little better than 40 percent from the field and right around 35 percent from the 3-point line.

UND's staff has some connections in the western side of the junior college ranks, with Fighting Hawks assistant Jamie Stevens spending four seasons at Central Wyoming College.

Snow College assistant coach Ben Cruickshank also spent some time at the University of Mary in Bismarck.

UND has money to work with, as Filip Rebraca, Seybian Sims, Tyree Ihenacho and Nate Shockey entered the transfer portal after the season. Andrew Bergan also entered the portal and has since committed to NCAA Division II Northern State. During the season, Carlos Ramsey and De'Sean Allen-Eikens also left to transfer.

UND volleyball sees two in portal

The UND volleyball season ended a couple of weeks ago, and the Fighting Hawks have two players in the transfer portal in graduate transfer Sara Antic and sophomore libero McKenzie Damon.

Damon, a Durand, Ill., native, played in 16 matches and started two. She had 72 digs on the year. After leading UND with 24 service aces as a freshman, she had five this season.

Antic, a native of Serbia, who came to UND from Northeastern Junior College, finished this year third on the team with 98 kills.

The Hawks were 2-16 and lost 14 straight to end the year.

Briefly

-- South Dakota football landed an FBS transfer Monday from the University of Wisconsin. Safety Reggie Pearson, who missed all of the 2020 season due to injury, announced his commitment to the Coyotes. In 2019, Pearson, a Michigan native, took over a starting role with the Badgers and had 60 tackles, two forced fumbles and 3.5 tackles for loss.

-- Youngstown State starting quarterback Mark Waid didn't play last week in a loss at Missouri State. The Vindicator, the local newspaper in Youngstown, said Waid was injured. Joe Craycraft, who played in the Penguins' first two games of the year, threw for 100 yards in Waid's absence. Less of a running threat than Waid, Craycraft played against NDSU and Northern Iowa to start the year, throwing for 45 and 31 yards, respectively.

-- South Dakota safety Nate Valcarcel announced his decision to transfer on Monday. The freshman didn't register any defensive stats in 2020. The Greenfield, Wis., native was recruited by UND out of high school and held a 2019 offer from the Fighting Hawks.

-- Former South Dakota State men's basketball standout David Jenkins, Jr., has announced he'll transfer to Utah to join up with the new coaching staff there, led by UND graduate Craig Smith. Jenkins Jr., went to UNLV after his time with the Jackrabbits.

-- UND soccer's Skyler Knapp is in the transfer portal. The goaltender, from Chino Hills, Calif., didn't play this season. She transferred to UND from Northern Colorado.
