BISMARCK-Cassidy Fulton, an 18-year-old from Valley City, has been named the "Best of Show" winner in the North Dakota junior duck stamp contest sponsored by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
Fulton, a senior at Valley City High School, used acrylic paints to depict a drake wigeon, a colorful duck observed in a shallow prairie wetland. Her painting was entitled "Secluded Serenity."
Cassidy's artwork will compete at the National junior duck stamp contest, where the first-place winner will receive $1,000 and have their art entry made into a junior duck stamp that is sold for $5-with proceeds supporting conservation education programs.
