UND men's basketball player Drick Bernstine, a key piece in the Fighting Hawks' run to the NCAA Tournament last season, announced plans to transfer late Thursday night.
Bernstine didn't say where he would transfer.
Bernstine, the son of former NFL player Rod Bernstine, finished his junior year with an average of 8.3 points and 7.5 rebounds. He started 30 of UND's 31 games.
Bernstine, a native of Aurora, Colo., was at his best against Arizona in the first round of March Madness in Salt Lake City. Bernstine scored 20 points and pulled down 15 rebounds.
A former transfer from Denver University, Bernstine averaged 9.7 points and 9.1 rebounds as a sophomore in his first season in Grand Forks.

"I remember the first day I stepped foot on the campus of the University of North Dakota," Bernstine began his post on Instagram. "I wanted to not only change the basketball program and community but also myself. Some may disagree but I think I achieved all of those in my two years there. I can't thank the coaches, my teammates, the fans or the UND community enough for those two years I experienced in Grand Forks. But I am going to continue my basketball career at another school this next year. Thank you UND."
