SCHENECTADY, N.Y. --- The UND women's hockey team, a night after scoring just once in 35 shots, made the most of their opportunities Saturday.

The Sioux cruised to a 5-0 win over Union in nonconference women's hockey.

Sioux freshman Mary Loken, a native of Roseau, Minn., led the way with two goals and 11 shots on goal, while junior Stephanie Roy and sophomores Sara Dagenais and Margot Miller also scored.

"All three lines produced," Sioux coach Brian Idalski said. "I was happy with (Jessica) Harren and (Allison) Parizek as well. I thought they came in and gave us some hop as our fourth-line kids. I rolled them right from the start because of that. I thought everybody contributed and moved their feet and that is what we are striving for. I thought it was a nice team win."

Redshirt freshman Jorid Dagfinrud completed her second shutout of the season with 14 saves as the Sioux improve to 4-11-3 on the year.

The floodgates would open in the third period as Loken and Dagenais would score a pair of goals 11 seconds apart and Miller would add the finishing touch with the game's fifth goal.

Loken nearly added a sixth goal with 1:46 remaining with two shot attempts turned away from right outside the crease. It was an attempt at the first hat-trick by a Sioux since Oct. 25, 2005 by Cami Wooster.

"Mary has always had a great engine," Idalski said. "She works so hard and competes all over the ice. As she gets more comfortable and continues to develop she is going to be a nice, dominant player just because of her energy and work ethic. It was nice to see her get rewarded for that tonight."
