DULUTH -- Minnesota-Duluth, the No. 4 seed in the WCHA Final Faceoff, pulled off an upset early Friday by knocking off No. 1 Wisconsin.

The UND women's hockey team, however, could not follow suit.

Sarah Davis netted a hat trick to lead No. 2 Minnesota to a 6-0 win over No. 3 UND in the semifinals of the conference tournament.

Duluth and Minnesota face off in the conference championship game at 7:07 tonight.

The Sioux will need to root for the Gophers against Duluth. If Duluth were to win against Minnesota, UND would almost definitely be knocked out of the national tournament.

If Minnesota were to beat the Bulldogs, UND will still need to watch the rest of the national picture and hope to be one of the eight teams announced into the NCAA tournament.

Against the Gophers, the Sioux trailed early. Emily West and Davis scored first-period goals.

Davis, West and Jen Schoullis scored goals in the second period.

Davis then finished the hat trick with a goal in the final period.

Stephanie Ney started in net for the Sioux, finishing with 12 saves. She was relieved by Jorid Dagfinrud, who finished with nine. Minnesota goalie Noora Raty finished with 27 saves.
