MADISON, Wis. -- The UND women's hockey team was well on its way to an upset of the defending national champions and No. 1 team in the country.

But the University of Wisconsin converted a late power-play chance to tie the game, then standout Hilary Knight scored in overtime to give the Badgers a 3-2 win over UND on Sunday in the Kohl Center.

The Badgers earned a series sweep and improved to 4-0, while UND dropped to 1-3 after opening the season against the top two ranked teams in the country.

Andrea Dalen and Jocelyne Lamoureux scored power-play goals for the Sioux in the first and second periods as the Sioux took a 2-0 lead at the 12:53 mark of the second period.

Wisconsin answered Lamoureux's tally in less than a minute. Brianna Decker scored her seventh goal of the season to cut the deficit to 2-1.

With just 1:46 left in the game, UND freshman forward Michelle Karvinen was called for checking and the Badgers used the late power play to tie the game. Brooke Ammerman scored her fifth goal of the year with just one minute left.

Knight, who led the country in goals a year ago, finished off the Badger victory with a goal at 3:03 of the third period. It was assisted by Carolyne Prevost, who had a hat trick in Wisconsin's 5-2 win Saturday, and Decker.

Steph Ney started in goal for the Sioux and stopped 23 of 26 shots. Badger goalie Alex Rigsby stopped 24 of 26.

UND's schedule eases up a little bit beginning next week with a home series against unranked Vermont. Then, the Sioux host unranked Ohio State before going to Minnesota-Duluth and St. Cloud State.
