UND women's basketball team opens Big Sky play with a win

Makailah Dyer scored 17 points to lead UND past Portland State 65-61 on Thursday night in the Big Sky Conference women's basketball opener for both teams.

Makailah Dyer scored 17 points to lead UND past Portland State 65-61 on Thursday night in the Big Sky Conference women's basketball opener for both teams.

UND improved to 6-6 overall while PSU dropped to 6-7.

UND led most of the way but no more than eight points separated the teams.

Fallyn Freije added 13 points for UND while Samantha Roscoe finished with 12.

The Hawks shot 34 percent against Portland State's 2-3 zone but did shoot 35 percent on 3-point attempts (8-of-23).

Sidney Rielly led Portland State with 27 points.

UND will host Sacramento State on Saturday.
