SAN DIEGO, Calif.-Coach Travis Brewster had to wait for his Christmas present from his team, but they delivered it late Wednesday night.
The UND women's basketball team rallied from an 11-point deficit in the second half and a 10-point deficit with 5:10 left in the game to beat San Diego 65-61 in the last game before Christmas break.
The Fighting Hawks used a late 9-0 run to erase the deficit and beat the Toreros.
Makailah Dyer led UND with 12 points, while Lexi Klabo added 11 points and nine rebounds off the bench. Chastity Franklin also was in double figures with 10 points for the Fighting Hawks, who improved to 5-6.
San Diego led 56-46 with 5:10 to go, but a Grace Sawatzke layup started the charge.

UND eventually tied it with 1:40 to go after a 3-pointer from Dyer and a layup by Samantha Roscoe.
Klabo gave UND the lead with a layup with :47 to go.
The Fighting Hawks played without guard Leah Szabla, who was out due to illness.
UND is off until Dec. 29, when it opens Big Sky Conference play at home against Portland State. The Fighting Hawks are done with regular-season nonconference play.
