The UND football team has landed a Division I transfer quarterback from its own conference.
Nate Ketteringham, a transfer from Big Sky Conference member Sacramento State, has verbally committed to play with the Fighting Hawks, he confirmed Friday night.
Ketteringham has two seasons of eligibility remaining.
The 6-foot-3, 200-pound San Diego native started 15 games for the Hornets the past two seasons. He totaled 3,387 yards, 24 touchdowns, 15 interceptions and had four 300-yard games. The dual-threat quarterback also ran for 267 yards, scoring four touchdowns and averaging 15.7 yards per carry.
Ketteringham played the final six games for Sacramento State after a run of injuries during his true freshman season in 2015.

Because he played as a true freshman, Ketteringham would have the opportunity to redshirt in 2017 and play two more seasons.
UND returns four-year starter Keaton Studsrud at quarterback in 2017. The Fighting Hawks also have Fresno City College transfer Andrew Zimmerman, Minot, N.D., native Ben Bolinske and Rugby, N.D., native Brad Heidlebaugh in the position group. Incoming freshman Brock Boltmann is also a highly regarded quarterback prospect.
