Grand Forks Airport sets passenger record as hockey fans head to Nashville

The airport set a record for the daily number of passengers to come through its doors, and by far and large most of them were heading to Nashville, Tennessee. On Saturday night, UND is set to take on Penn State at Bridgestone Arena.

Former UND star now living in Nashville eager for the town to be introduced to his alma mater and its following

"People are always asking me about North Dakota," said Hoogsteen, who led UND's 1997 NCAA national championship team in scoring. "Down here, we're in SEC country. So, I always compare us to Alabama football or Duke basketball. I'm super excited for this to come to life for people down here and for them to see what Fighting Sioux or Fighting Hawks hockey is all about. Yes, it's about the on-ice product. But it's about the community and the pride.

Former UND player helps organize Nashville lunch to benefit military veteran organization

From left: Combat veteran Brian Bailey, former NHL defenseman Hal Gill, former NHL goalie Chris Mason and former UND forward/defenseman Brad Miller pose for a photo on the ice. They all have roles with 7Element, a Nashville-based organization which strives to benefit mental wellness of veterans and first responders.

Jody Hodgson wanted to do something to leave a lasting impact in Nashville.

The general manager of Ralph Engelstad Arena didn't just want to fly in for the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame Game and return to Grand Forks without doing something to benefit the community.

For the second time, Clayton Phillips finds himself on the other side of a UND hockey destination game

Phillips was playing for Minnesota when the Gophers and Fighting Hawks met in the 2018 U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame Game in Las Vegas. He now plays for Penn State, which will meet UND in Nashville on Saturday.
