List of UND hockey future nonconference opponents, NCAA hockey regional sites and Frozen Fours

The Fighting Hawks traditionally play 24 conference games and 10 nonconference games. They are allowed to play more than 34 regular-season games with exempt games.

GRAND FORKS — Scheduling in college hockey is done a couple of years out. This page offers a look at some of the future nonconference opponents UND has tentatively lined up to play.

Because future schedules are not yet finalized, these are all subject to change. Everything listed is a two-game series, unless otherwise noted.

The National Collegiate Hockey Conference has a 24-game league schedule, which allows for 10 nonconference games per season to hit the NCAA cap of 34 regular-season games.

UND is allowed to go over the 34-game mark if it plays exempt games, which the program has done annually since 1999. The Ice Breaker Invitational, the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame Game and games played in Alaska are exempt. The NCAA also allows schools to do a foreign exhibition game trip once every four years. UND last did that in 2014, when it played two exhibition games in the Vancouver area.

UND has never played several D-I college hockey teams: Arizona State (scheduled to play in 2022-23), Lindenwood (scheduled to play in 2022-23), Connecticut, Bentley, Mercyhurst, RIT, Sacred Heart, Long Island and St. Thomas.
