GRAND FORKS — The NHL released its regular-season schedule this week.
The season opens Oct. 7 with a game in Prague, Czechia, and ends April 15.
There are several notable dates on the calendar for UND fans to watch. Here are five of them:
Oct. 12: Kraken at Ducks
Former UND captain and head coach Dave Hakstol will begin his second campaign behind the bench with the Seattle Kraken with a pair of games in Los Angeles.
The Kraken play at Anaheim on Oct. 12 and at the Los Angeles Kings on Oct. 13.

Seattle went 27-49-6 in its expansion season, but added No. 2 overall pick Matty Beniers to their roster at the end of last season.
Oct. 13: Senators at Sabres
Jake Sanderson could make his NHL debut on Oct. 13, when his Ottawa Senators play on the road in Buffalo.
Sanderson, who signed after UND's season ended in March, would have made his debut last season if not for a hand injury that required surgery.
Sanderson is aiming to become the 109th former UND player to play in an NHL game. Two others have dressed in NHL games but did not play.
The game also is notable because it could mark the return of Shane Pinto to the lineup. Pinto suffered two injuries last season that kept him out most of the year. He last played on Nov. 13, 2021.
Oct. 28: Ducks at Golden Knights
Making the trip to Vegas for UND's Hall of Fame Game against Arizona State?
You'll have a chance to see an NHL game, too.
The Fighting Hawks and Sun Devils play on Saturday, Oct. 29. Depending on your flight schedule, there are two Golden Knight games you could catch.

Vegas plays Anaheim on Friday, Oct. 28 at 3 p.m., which still gives fans a chance to get to the party on Fremont Street that night.
The Golden Knights also host the Winnipeg Jets at 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 30 for fans who don't depart Vegas until Monday.
Feb. 18: Capitals at Hurricanes
It seems fitting to see former UND star T.J. Oshie of Warroad playing on the outdoor rink.
This time, it just might not be as cold as those winter days in Warroad.
Oshie and the Capitals will play an outdoor game at the Carolina Hurricanes in February. The game is scheduled for Carter-Finley Stadium, where North Carolina State plays its home football games.
March 18: Bruins at Wild
The National Collegiate Hockey Conference opted last year to get rid its third-place game at the Frozen Faceoff and replace it with a Minnesota Wild game that afternoon.
This year, the Boston Bruins are in town for that Saturday matinee.
UND fans will be able to watch Derek Forbort (Boston) go head-to-head with Tyson Jost (Minnesota).
