I wrote a story about midway through the season detailing how often UND had hit the post. Nick Schmaltz led the nation with nine posts at the time - he was on a crazy run of hitting them - but didn’t hit another one all season. UND still finished the season No. 1 in posts and Schmaltz’s good friend and linemate, Brock Boeser, ended up leading the nation in posts.
These advanced stats are available on collegehockeynews.com.
You’ll notice that, in general, the teams that hit the most posts were the best teams. That’s probably not a surprise, because you need to generate offensive scoring chances to hit the post.
It’s also interesting that UND had four different individuals who hit more posts than Anchorage’s entire team, while two others tied UAA’s grand total of five posts.
