Harrison Blaisdell's career at UND started with a bang.

The Winnipeg Jets draft pick from Saskatchewan scored goals in two of his first three games -- one at home against Canisius and the next a beautiful top-shelf backhand on the road at Minnesota State-Mankato.

After that, the goals dried up and his ice time dwindled.

Blaisdell finished the 2020-21 season playing left wing on the fourth line and mired in a 48-game goal drought.

Now, he's searching for a new opportunity to rejuvenate his career.

Blaisdell, who was picked in the fifth round of the 2019 NHL Draft, has entered the NCAA transfer portal. He will still have three years of college eligibility remaining, because this season doesn't count against it.

The 5-foot-11, 190-pound forward played 19 games this season, tallying four assists for the National Collegiate Hockey Conference's regular season and postseason champion Fighting Hawks. As a freshman, he tallied two goals and 12 points.

UND recruited Blaisdell from the Chilliwack Chiefs in the British Columbia Hockey League. Blaisdell played two seasons in Chilliwack, tallying 33 goals and 58 points in 51 games as a second-year player. His father, Mike, played college hockey at Wisconsin and in the NHL for the Detroit Red Wings, New York Rangers, Pittsburgh Penguins and Toronto Maple Leafs.

Blaisdell is the second UND player to enter the transfer portal this offseason. Senior goalie Peter Thome, searching for the opportunity to be a clear-cut No. 1 starter, entered the portal last month.

The Fighting Hawks have already added one player from the transfer portal in Bowling Green senior captain Connor Ford, who led the Western Collegiate Hockey Association with 16 goals this season Ford is expected to immediately contend for a top-six center role with the Fighting Hawks.

UND could go to the portal to grab a replacement for Blaisdell, too. Several prominent forwards remain in there, including Colorado College's Grant Cruikshank and Ben Copeland, Minnesota's Brannon McManus, Union's Jack Adams, Denver's Kohen Olischefski, Notre Dame's Colin Theisen and Bowling Green's Cameron Wright.
