The UND football team addressed a need for speed on Wednesday.
The Fighting Hawks announced wide receiver Cameron McKinney has signed a grant-in-aid to play at UND and will join the program in January.
The 5-foot-9, 165-pound McKinney spent his senior season in 2015 at Garfield High School in Seattle, after beginning his prep career with two varsity seasons at West Brook High School in Beaumont, Texas.
McKinney was clocked at 4.31 seconds in the 40-yard dash at a camp in Nebraska this summer, according to Rivals.com.
"He came to our camp this summer and really impressed us with his skill set," UND coach Bubba Schweigert said. "He will benefit tremendously from arriving on campus in January and being able to workout with his teammates and participate in spring practices. We plan to use Cameron at wide receiver and also look forward to utilizing his elite speed and quickness in the return game."

UND was in need of speed at wide receiver as the Fighting Hawks lost Clive Georges to a broken leg in Week 1 in 2016. Georges is currently applying for a medical hardship to be a senior next season.
McKinney earned all-metro first team honors as a running back and defensive back after his final prep season in 2015, where he rushed for more than 1,400 yards and 17 touchdowns and had six interceptions on defense.
As a junior in his final season in southeast Texas, McKinney was named honorable mention all-district after racking up 12 touchdowns and 600 rushing yards.
UND is coming off a 9-3 season that saw the program earn a share of the Big Sky Conference championship and play in its first postseason at the Division I level.
