UND senior defensive end Nathan Wayne will miss the entire 2009 season after suffering a ruptured Achilles tendon during practice this week.
He will undergo surgery on Monday.
Wayne, a native of Menomonie, Wis., started all 10 games last season and recorded 17 tackles (11 solo) and one pass breakup.
In 33 career games with the Sioux, including 19 starts, Wayne has recorded 56 tackles and one quarterback sack.
