Thief River Falls head coach Shawn Spears: “Scheduled to come on Monday, Moorhead was postponed due to weather but we were able to fit in both of our schedules for them to come and give us a home match. Due to weather, our other home matches had to be canceled because of weather and nowhere to squeeze them back in with our opponents.
Even Wednesday was starting to look a little iffy but thankfully it ended up being a beautiful afternoon for our match. We were able to give our seniors an honoring afternoon. Seniors include Dylan Hahn, Jack Onkka, Isaiah Villarreal and Justin Funk. We have been very fortunate to have such great seniors on our team this year and they will be missed on and off the court greatly next year. Each one has a unique playing style but also a fun and interesting personality. They all bring a fun and positive energy whether they are all together or individually. We are honored to have them a part of our team.
Overall playing was great from the start for our boys. They were putting together all the little things that we've been mentioning to them over the last few days. The best part is when one of them hit a great shot or performed something we've been practicing and they look over to Michael and I and give a little fist bump or a head nod. It's that ‘lightbulb’ moment and probably one of the best parts of coaching.
We're thankful that we had such a great turn-out for the match today! We appreciate all the support that comes from the community all the time but being able to have them watching makes it that much better.”
