Wide receiver Shamen Washington will be suspended for the first game of North Dakota State's football season while defensive end Garrett Johnson and backup quarterback Jose Mohler will be suspended for the first two games, according to head coach Craig Bohl.

The three players were suspended from last spring's practices after being arrested for driving under the influence. Johnson was arrested in early March for DUI and minor in possession. Washington and Mohler were arrested for DUI about a half hour apart in April. Mohler was also cited for minor in possession.

Washington will miss the Sept. 3 season opener at Iowa State. Johnson and Mohler will sit out the Iowa State game and the Sept. 12 game at Sam Houston State.

Backup linebacker Blake Sczepanski, who was the fourth Bison player cited for DUI in the last six months, remains indefinitely suspended and will not be part of Bison team practices that begin Wednesday.
