GF Central individual results
136-140 -- Allyssa Johnson (GFC) over Jadyn Kelly (Bemidji) 0:34 (first place); Kylie Donat (Bemidji) over Macy Boushey (GFC) 0:24 (fourth place)
146-155 -- Olivia Ochoa (GFC) over Macie Webb (Bemidji) 1:37 (second place)
GF Central head coach Brady Terrill: “We found out what the girls wrestling scene is out here in Minnesota and it was a little disappointing but not incredibly shocking. Building a new foundation for a sport is a difficult thing to do but I think Bemidji deserves a lot of credit for building a team of some tough ladies. I’m sure Bemidji doesn’t get a whole lot of in-state competition and often find themselves competing against their teammates so I think it was an important weekend to help grow the sport by competing cross-state which helps build recognition of girls wrestling in both North Dakota and Minnesota. They are the fan-favorites at these tournaments and are always fun to watch. It was really nice for our team to get new competition. We’ll see a lot of in-state competition next weekend with the Fargo Metro tournament on Friday and the Lisbon tournament on Saturday.”
