Here's a look at the regulations for fishing lake sturgeon on Lake of the Woods, Rainy River and other U.S.-Canada border waters:
Harvest season
- April 24-May 7 and July 1-Sept. 30.
- A $5 tag is required to legally keep a sturgeon, and anglers can only keep fish measuring from 45 inches to 50 inches, inclusive, or longer than 75 inches.
- The limit is one sturgeon per license year.
ADVERTISEMENT
- No tag is required for anglers who don't plan to keep a sturgeon during the harvest season.
Catch-and-release
- May 8-15 and Oct. 1-April 21, 2012. No tag is required.
- Season is closed May 16-June 30.
