Four UND athletic coaches and UND's athletic director are at a UND booster luncheon in Fargo today, and a "major announcement" is planned at the luncheon, according to WDAY-AM (970) and The Forum.

WDAY-AM says it plans to carry the announcement live at noon on its airwaves.

The luncheon and announcement come several weeks after UND found itself searching for a new radio home in the Fargo area. It also follows news of UND's nickname and logo retirement by several days.

The luncheon is at the Kelly Inn in Fargo.

Athletic Director Brian Faison and four coaches - hockey coach Dave Hakstol, women's basketball coach Gene Roebuck, men's basketball coach Brian Jones and football coach Chris Mussman - will be featured speakers during the luncheon.

Admission is $8 if you eat lunch. Admission is free without lunch for the program that runs from noon to 1 p.m.

UND is seeking a new radio home for broadcasts of its major sports events after the parent company of KFGO-AM (970) received the North Dakota State University radio rights after years of Bison sports on WDAY-AM. KFGO had been carrying Sioux sports on radio in the Fargo-Moorhead area.

Forum Communications Co., which owns WDAY Radio, also owns WDAZ-TV in Grand Forks and Devils Lake, which has long held the local TV rights to major UND sports. Forum Communications also owns the Grand Forks Herald.
