Simon Romfo fulfills dream, commits to play football at UND
L-E-M quarterback is a three-time all-state first-team member.
LANGDON, N.D. -- Simon Romfo did just about everything in his high school football career. Now, the Langdon Area-Edmore-Munich quarterback can add one more accolade to his loaded resume.
Romfo announced on Thursday night he's committed to play at the University of North Dakota.
"You always dream of being a Division I player growing up and when that moment hits, it's kind of surreal," Romfo said.
Romfo completed 159 of 232 passes for 2,448 yards with 33 touchdowns and six interceptions, while carrying 110 times for 1,233 yards and 19 touchdowns as a senior.
He helped lead the Cardinals to 37 straight wins, never losing as the starting quarterback for the team, and won three consecutive Class A state titles from 2018-2020.
His senior year ended with his third straight selection as a first-team all-state quarterback in Class A football.
"Really special not only for me but for everyone, especially the younger kids that look up to me," Romfo said. "Even though you're from a small town, you can still make your dreams of playing Division I."
UND offered the 5'10, 170 pounder a preferred walk-on spot. He's been told he will stay at quarterback on the Fighting Hawks roster.
Romfo played safety for the Cardinals, as well, adding six interceptions and two pick-sixes as a senior.
