The school year begins today, which means the 2017-18 team has returned to campus for the fall.
The vast majority of the fall is spent with players-only skates and team workouts. The coaches are only allowed to be on the ice with the players for a couple of hours per week for “skill sessions” before full practices begin in early October.
The players also will do some off-ice testing, and I’m assuming things such as baseline concussion tests, which can be used for comparisons if a player is hit in the head during the season.
