Former UND standout Corban Knight made his NHL debut Wednesday night for the Calgary Flames against the Ottawa Senators.

Knight played 6:17 in the opening two periods as the Flames built a 3-0 lead on the Senators. He was screening the goalie for Calgary’s second goal, a power-play marker by Paul Byron.

Knight, who owns UND’s single-season faceoff record, also won 67 percent of his draws in the first two periods, going 6-3 in the circle.

Knight is the 12th former UND player to suit up in the NHL this season and the first from his freshman class of 2009.
