MINOT -- Five area athletes have been named to North Dakota high school volleyball all-state teams.
Grand Forks Red River placed two players on the Class A all-state team, hitters Emily Evers and Emily Asche.
Three area players were named to the Class B all-state team -- McKenzie Hart of Langdon, Katelyn Paulson of Hatton-Northwood and Lexi Erickson of Park River/Fordville-Lankin.
All-state selections are made by the state coaches' associations.
Here's a look at the area all-state picks.

n Emily Evers: Evers was one of three finalists for the East Region senior player of the year award. Entering the Class A state tournament, Evers had 237 kills and a team-leading 20 solo blocks.
n Emily Asche: The junior is the leading hitter on the Roughriders team. Entering the state tournament, she had 274 kills, 19 blocks and a team-leading 74 service aces.
n McKenzie Hart: Just a sophomore, Hart went over the 1,000 mark in career kills this season. She paced Langdon with 550 kills and 64 blocks while also registering 82 service aces and 422 digs.
n Katelyn Paulson: Paulson was named Region 2 senior player of the year. Her numbers for the season included 310 kills, 119 blocks, 111 service aces and 203 digs.
n Lexi Erickson: Erickson was named District 4 senior player of the year. Entering the Class B state tournament, she led the Region 2-champion Aggies with 348 kills, and also had 292 digs.
