Jessica Marynik went 4-for-4 with two triples and three RBI.
“Jessica did a good job of hitting the ball,” said Central coach Darin Schumacher. “She started two innings with a single and a triple to get us going.”

Senior High splits with Roseau
ROSEAU, Minn. - East Grand Forks Senior High was defeated 5-0 by Roseau in the opener, but the Green Wave bounced back with an 8-1 win in the second game here Monday.
“In the first game their pitcher did a really nice job,” said Green Wave coach Garret Hjelle. “It was nice to bounce back in the second game and start hitting the ball again. We got back to the way we like to play and it worked out for us.”
Taylor Brierley was the winning pitcher for Senior High in the second game. Clarke Peterson went 2-for-4 with three runs batted in to lead the Wave to the win.
Senior High improved to 4-2.

Joe Kvidt pitched a 4-hitter, striking out nine, as Sacred Heart beat visiting Norman County East/Ulen-Hitterdal on Monday for the Eagles’ second straight win.

“Joe got hurt in our first game,’’ Sacred Heart coach Paul Bethke said. “It’s nice to get him back. He had to pitch out of trouble in a few innings, but he threw well.’’
Ethan Jung scored twice, Dominic Mangino doubled in two runs in the third inning and Ryan Holte had two hits for 3-2 Sacred Heart.

GF girls win 8
FARGO - Grand Forks runners won eight of the 19 events in the girls division of the Fargo Rotary meet here Monday.
Red River’s Ashley Rone won the 100, 200 and 400 and ran on the winning 4x200 relay with Kya Glenn, Tiahna Burian and Bailee Enlow. The Roughriders’ Hannah Arason was a double winner, taking the high jump and javelin.
Glenn won the triple jump, while Central’s Karly Ackley was first in the 3,200.
The lone Grand Forks boys winner was Central’s Jake Mussman. The junior took first in the triple jump.

- Girls tennis: Undefeated Cindy Lim won her fifth straight singles match by a 6-0, 6-0 score to highlight Grand Forks Red River’s 9-0 win against visiting West Fargo on Monday. A key win for the 5-0 Roughriders came at No. 2 doubles, where Maddie Anderson and Alexis Coaili scored a 6-3, 7-6(7-1) victory. “They did a nice job bouncing back after being down 3-0 in the second set,’’ Roughriders coach Greg LaDouceur said. “We had really good doubles play and that filtered right into the singles play.’’
- Boys golf: Nate Deziel shot an 84 to lead East Grand Forks Senior High on Monday at the Bemidji Invitational. Senior High finished with a 362, placing 12th at the 18-team meet. Staples-Motley won the meet with a 323. “It wasn’t our best outing but right now we’re happy to be out playing,” said Senior High coach Jay Frydenlund. “The course played tough.” Ethan Johnson of Roseau was the medalist with a 75.
- Boys tennis: East Grand Forks Senior High dropped two duals Monday, falling to Thief River Falls 5-2 and Crookston 4-3. Senior High’s Ty Misialek and Zach Straw won a pair of matches at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, respectively. “Ty and Zach had two strong performances,” said Senior High coach Terry Paukert. “Our doubles were very competitive against Thief River Falls.”
- Softball: Grand Forks Red River was downed 3-0 in the first game of a doubleheader against visiting Fargo South, but won 10-0 in the second game Monday. Meghan Ramage led the Roughriders in the second game with a grand slam and seven runs batted in. “The second game we just kept hitting the ball hard,” said Red River coach Brooke Larson. “Our hits became contagious.”
- Girls soccer: Reily Klose’s second-half goal was the difference Monday as Fargo Davies scored a 1-0 home win against Grand Forks Red River. Mari Rustebakke had six saves in goal for the Roughriders, while Davies’ Emery Gess turned back two shots. “Davies is a high-powered team,’’ Roughriders coach Jessica Krog said. “We did a good job of holding them down. But we have to work on becoming more offensive.’’ Red River plays Grand Forks Central at 7 p.m. today at Cushman Field.
