Jeremy Bontjes' 24-footer in the closing seconds led Wahpeton past Red River on Tuesday night. The loss ended Red River's attempt for an undefeated season. The loss dropped Red River to 18-1 and it also closed out the regular season.

"We just had a few plays that didn't go our way," Red River coach Jason Gregory said.

Gregory said Bontjes was off-balance when he launched his shot.

The Riders led 38-35 at halftime.

Mac Kroeplin led Red River with 23 points. Mack Arvidson pitched in 15 points and Tyler Burris added 10 for the Riders.

Bontjes finished with 15 points, a team-high for the Huskies.

Red River will compete in the East Region tournament next week.
