BISMARCK -- Katie Svendson won the 200 and 500 freestyle to lead Grand Forks Central to a fourth place finish in the Bismarck Invitational.

Central's Alexis Ljunggren also swam well in the invite, placing second in the 500 freestyle and third in the 200 freestyle. Madi Remer of Central also placed second in diving.

The top performer for Grand Forks Red River was its 400 freestyle relay team, which took seventh.

West Fargo won the meet scoring 447 points.

• Boys soccer: Christopher Pellegrino scored three goals to lead Fergus Falls Hillcrest to a 9-0 win over East Grand Forks Senior High Saturday. Sondra Harila and Chris Larson also scored a pair of goals in the contest. The loss puts Senior High's record at 4-4. The Green Wave will play Grand Forks Central on Monday.

n Volleyball: Brooke Yaggie and Meleah Biermaier sparked Thief River Falls to a 25-7, 25-12, 25-14 win at Grand Forks Central on Saturday. Yaggie had 14 kills, to go along with two blocks and a service ace. Biermaier had 10 kills, three blocks and three service aces. Shelby Norlin had 34 assists for the Prowlers. Shelby Dahley had four kills and Steph McWilliams 10 assists to lead the Knights.

n Volleyball: East Grand Forks finished sixth place at the Warren-Alvarado-Oslo tournament on Saturday. The Eagles beat Red Lake Falls 20-25, 25-14, 15-6 and lost to Stephen-Argyle and Badger-Greenbush-Middle River in pool play. Fertile-Beltrami defeated Sacred Heart 25-19, 25-22 in the fifth-place match.

n Cross country: Grand Forks Central beat Grand Forks Red River in a dual on both the boys and girls side Saturday. Karly Ackley (16:00) led Central's effort on the girls side. Camron Roehl (16:41) led the Knights on the boys side.
