Grand Forks Red River placed three players in double figures to take the home win over Wahpeton on Tuesday night.
Braeden Hanson led the way with 20 points for the Riders, while Carson Dennis and Austin Slaughter finished with 16 and 13 points, respectively.
“We started the game pretty slow and sluggish,” said Red River coach Kirby Krefting. “But we got a spark off the bench. Then we got some shots to drop. It was a perfect team effort.”

Wahpeton was led by Carson Zarak’s 16 points.
West Fargo 70,
GF Central 32
Haboniman Simon scored a game-high 18 points to lead West Fargo to a road win at Grand Forks Central on Tuesday night.
Simon was the only player in double figures for the Packers, who improved to 4-1 with the victory.
“We had a tough time generating any offense,” Central coach Dan Carlson said. “We turned the ball over too much and they are a high-powered team.”
Ethan Horner led Central (0-4) with 11 points.

WAHPETON, N.D. - Lexi Robson scored a team-high 18 points, while Olivia Schreiner added 10 off the bench to lead Red River to a road win over Wahpeton on Tuesday.
Red River trailed by one at halftime, but opened the second half with a 24-5 run to take a commanding lead. Wahpeton responded with a 18-4 run to end the game, but it wasn’t enough to catch the Roughriders.
“We had a bit of a slow start to the game, but we were able to battle back at the end of the first half and start the second half on a nice run,” Red River coach Kent Ripplinger said. “It was a game of runs, but we were able to hold on. We came up big on defense at the end and Olivia Schreiner was a nice spark for us.”
The Roughriders improved to 4-1, while Wahpeton dropped to 3-3.
West Fargo 64,
GF Central 61
WEST FARGO - Akealy Moton scored 32 points to lead West Fargo past Grand Forks Central on Tuesday night.
The loss dropped the Knights to 1-4.

Central received 12 points each from Lauren Dub and Shelby Dahley. Abbie Ferry added 10.
“We played well offensively,” said Central coach D.J. Burris. “In the second half, we were more aggressive.”
Central won’t play again until Jan. 7.

- Wrestling: Dominating the middle weights, host Fargo Davies defeated Grand Forks Central 53-23 in East Region action. Getting wins for the Knights were Starson Buckles (106 pounds), Carson Williams (120), Gordon Isler (170), Brady Terrill (220) and Hector Hernandez (285). Henandez’ pin of Jacob West in 1 minutes, 10 seconds was noteworthy as West was ranked No. 3 in the state. “Our team really battled tonight,” said Central coach Jeff Welsh. “We were short three starters, but Fargo Davies is one of the top teams in the region and they earned the win.” Central falls to 9-4 on the season, 2-2 in the East Region, and return to the mat on Jan. 5 to host Wahpeton.
