DRAYTON, N.D. – Grand Forks anglers Darwin Lunski and Trever Lunski weighed in 79.16 pounds of catfish to win the $10,000 first prize in the all-new Catfish Capital Challenge, held Saturday and Sunday on the Red River in Drayton.
Michael Andrews and Brandon Oby of Grafton and St. Thomas, N.D., placed second with a two-day tournament weight of 78.19 pounds, and third place went to Chris Dolan and Dick Dolan of Grafton, with 76.16 pounds.
Phil Hartwig and Josh Weber landed big fish honors on day one, with a 21.57-pound catfish, and Branden Lunski and Jensen Bauer weighed in the heaviest catfish on day two, with a 21.61-pound fish.
Limited to 60 two-person teams, the tournament filled early, bringing more than 120 anglers from multiple states to Drayton. The weekend event also featured a catfish fry, city-wide garage sales and the Tom Landowski Memorial Motorcycle Ride.
