Wyatt Knudsvig, a sixth-grader at May-Port CG School, caught this bowfin, a rough fish also known as a dogfish, last summer during a family trip to Stony Point Resort on Cass Lake.
Here’s how his Grandpa, Rick Knudsvig of Buxton, N.D., described the catch:
"We were ready to leave. Our grandsons stayed back as we went to load the pontoon. There wasn't any bait left so Wyatt went to the canal where all the kids fish. He found a soggy potato chip, put it on his hook and casted in. Within seconds, his rod went down and the fight was on.
"Thanks to some neighbors that came with a net they landed the fish. To say the least, Wyatt was a very proud boy!"
