Jim Hejlik, 81, of Fordville, N.D., spent 35 years trying to catch a 50-inch muskie, a goal he finally achieved in July 2018, when landed a 52-inch muskie on a lake north of Vermilion Bay, Ont. (See story below.) He repeated the feat Monday, Oct. 7, when he landed this 52-inch muskie with a 28-inch girth while on a houseboat trip on Ontario’s Lac Seul. Both muskies were released after quick photos. According to a catch-and-release weight calculator on the muskyhunter.com website, a 52-inch muskie with a 28-inch girth would weigh an estimated 50.96 pounds. Yowza!
