Jim Hejlik, 81, of Fordville, N.D., spent 35 years trying to catch a 50-inch muskie, a goal he finally achieved in July 2018, when he landed a 52-inch muskie on a lake north of Vermilion Bay, Ont.  Hejlik repeated the feat Monday, Oct. 7, when he landed this 52-inch muskie with a 28-inch girth while on a houseboat trip on Ontario’s Lac Seul. Both muskies were released after quick photos. According to a catch-and-release weight calculator on the muskyhunter.com website, a 52-inch muskie with a 28-inch girth would weigh an estimated 50.96 pounds. Yowza!

The Parnow family of Goodridge, Minn., had a good weekend of fishing in mid-June on Lake of the Woods near Springsteel north of Warroad, Minn. In the upper left photo, grandpa Richard Parnow holds a 26-inch walleye for his grandson, Easton Parnow, 10. All fish from 19½ to 28 inches must be released on Lake of the Woods, and Easton’s 26-inch fish was set free after a quick photo.
