GRAND FORKS, N.D. — A special rescue mission sends firefighters into storm drains.

The Grand Forks Fire Department saved two sets of ducklings from drains this week.

Six little fuzz balls were trapped after falling through the grates.

Firefighters managed to go underground in order to get the baby ducks out.

They say they left them nearby for their mom to find them.

"It feels good anytime we can make a save. Whether it's a person or an animal they all feel good. We're happy to do it,” said Grand Forks Fire Department Driver Logan Schonert.

If you see any ducklings trapped in a drain -- the fire department says you shouldn't attempt your own rescue, it’s better to give them a call and leave the mission to them.
