Andy Fruetel of East Grand Forks shot this big bear with a bow while hunting in Minnesota’s No-Quota Zone in Marshall County. According to his father-in-law, Randy Dufault of East Grand Forks, the had an estimated live weight of 588 pounds. Dufault, who is a certified measurer, said the skull had a green score measurement of about 21½ inches -- big enough to qualify for the Boone and Crockett record book’s 21-inch minimum -- and he will get an official score once the mandatory 60-day drying period has passed.
