- National Safe Boating Week began Saturday and continues through Friday. Nancy Boldt, boat and water safety coordinator for the North Dakota Game and Fish Department, said the annual campaign emphasizes the need for wearing a life jacket when on the water. Each year, about 700 people nationwide die in boating-related accidents. Nearly 70 percent are caused by drowning, and eight of 10 victims were not wearing a life jacket.

- The North Dakota Game and Fish Department is trapping predators to enhance waterfowl and upland game production on two wildlife management areas in McLean County. Trapping and predator removal will occur until July 15 on islands in Audubon Wildlife Management Area and on Mallard Island, which is part of Wolf Creek WMA. Islands within Audubon WMA are closed to the public until July 16, but Mallard Island will remain open. Game and Fish is posting a limited number of signs in the vicinity of Mallard Island to warn the public about predator-control activities.
