Youth hunt at Agassiz: The Farmes Pool Unit of Agassiz National Wildlife Refuge in northwestern Minnesota will be open for the first time for Saturday's Youth Waterfowl Hunt. No registration is required.
State regulations apply, with additional refuge regulations as follows:
- No pre-hunt scouting is allowed within the refuge Friday.
- The Farmes Pool unit is the only portion of the refuge open to the youth hunt.
- Only nonmotorized boats may be used on the refuge portion of Farmes Pool.
ADVERTISEMENT
- A post-hunt check-in is not required, but refuge staff may be in the area to take biological samples from harvested birds.
- Youth hunter registration boxes will be present in the hunting area. Hunters should complete the voluntary information sheet at some point during the day.
- Maps and regulations will be available at registration boxes, kiosks and the refuge headquarters office.
Legal hunting hours for the Youth Waterfowl Hunt on are one-half hour before sunrise to 4 p.m. Agassiz will hold its annual public banding night beginning at 5 p.m., weather permitting.

- A portion of the North Unit Scenic Drive in Theodore Roosevelt National Park near Watford City, N.D., will be closed three days for roadwork beginning Tuesday. The closure will affect 8½ miles of the roadway between Juniper Campground and Oxbow Overlook. Entrance fees in the North Unit will be suspended while the road is closed. - Wetlands conservation passed a major milestone Wednesday when the North American Wetlands Conservation Act surpassed the $1 billion mark in federal grants.
