The Forks Fighters club is hosting a boxing event at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23, at the Masonic Center, 423 Bruce Ave.
The club has teamed up with regional boxing gyms to present fights with 20 athletes from the Upper Midwest, including Minot and New Town, N.D., and South Dakota, as well as two teams from Winnipeg.
The event, sponsored by Dusterhoft Family Stores, will feature 10 bouts in the Masonic Center’s historic auditorium, said Brian Larson, organizer.
Admission is $10 for adults; children younger than 10 are admitted free.
Food and beverages, provided by the Eagles Crest Bar and Grill, will be available for purchase.
Forks Fighters, a local boxing gym, was founded in 1991 in the basement of the former YMCA building, which has been razed, in downtown Grand Forks. The gym is now located in rented property on Dyke Avenue.
Forks Fighters club members are coached by Butch Hajicek and Raul Rodriguez.
