Even though it's early, two things have been consistent so far this season at River Cities Speedway.
The racing surface has been exceptional and the late model feature-as usual-won't be decided until the closing laps.
"The track has been the best I've seen," said Brad Seng, who won last week's late model feature at The Bullring. "What River Cities is doing as far as track prep, it's been spot on."
A good indication of the track's condition came during last week's late model feature.
Seng won the 20-lap event; his top time coming on Lap 17 when he was clocked in 13.124 seconds (82.292 mph).

But Mike Balcaen, who finished second, posted the fastest time of the race at 12.924 seconds (83.565 mph) on Lap 19. Usually, the fastest lap times come early in the race when track conditions are at their best.
"Mike ran me down on the last lap, running the bottom of the track," said Seng. "When you're running out front, you get into a rhythm but when you look at the leaderboard, you see a different driver in second and you start to think there is a faster way around the race track."
After two weeks, Seng leads the RCS points race. Joey Pederson is in second while Bill Mooney-who won the season opener-is in third.
"It's going to be a competitive field again," said Seng. "Anyone- Bill, Mike, Joey, Dustin (Strand), Shane Edginton-can win each night. We might not have a lot of cars, but it's pretty competitive."
Dobmeier wins Shootout
For the second-straight season, Mark Dobmeier won the Silver Shootout at the Badlands Motor Speedway near Sioux Falls, S.D., last week. It was a big-money race, as Dobmeier took home roughly $12,000 worth of silver bars.
Tim Kaeding finished second, while Danny Lasoski was third. A handful of RCS regulars also had a good showing in the feature as Thomas Kennedy finished fifth, Austin Pierce sixth and Casey Mack ninth.
Dobmeier started on the pole, not his ideal starting position.

"To be honest, I'm not big on starting on the pole," he said. "I'd rather have a carrot to chase and search the track out. Being up front can be kind of nerve-wracking."
